Summer days are coming…

Even though Fall is my favorite time of year there is something special too about the Summer. It will forever bring back memories of childhood. Where for 3 months every year we were free.

I don’t know how my parents managed it…but it seems like we were always going camping or fishing or going to the lake…or something. And even though there was always bound to be bickering at some point… it was always fun. And I couldn’t imagine having grown up without that.

And now that The Hubs and I are going to be parents…I for one would like to make sure our little kidlin gets to do these things too…

Enough is enough…

I am so tired of the mass retardation that takes place on the roads whenever it rains here. Seriously. People of the greater Seattle area if you can’t drive in the rain. MOVE. I mean it rains like 80% of the time here figure it out. Don’t get me wrong I don’t expect everyone to drive fast or anything like that but a little rain is no reason to drive 40 on the freeway. If that is the speed you choose to go take the back roads where the speed limit is 35. I would just appreciate some common sense. Like…don’t tailgate…turn on your headlights so people can see you…don’t wait till the last second to slam on your brakes when you can see the cars in front of you are slowing down.

I vote for them to start adding requirements to the licensing process…if its true that kids now have to clock a certain number of hours of night driving…why not require a certain number of hours of driving in the rain and here’s an idea…

Maybe someone who knows how to drive in the rain should start teaching classes on it…

Monday morning…

Its so nice to wake up to such beautiful weather. Warm sunny summer days are near and I can’t wait. Even though I will be somewhat plump with baby this year. I already had to go out and buy some new shorts in honor of my expanding belly. Thank goodness for Old Navy making some shorts with elastic wastebands.

The Hubs and I got some much needed cleaning done this weekend and got to catch up with some friends. D & L came over for BBQ and Bre and Rog came over with the baby for a while. Ruckus was fascinated by the baby…a little to much perhaps…but at least she didn’t start flinging her paws around which is such a boxer thing to do.

We finally got around to watching Hurt Locker and last night we went out and saw Kick-Ass. Both movies were very good. Kick-Ass was not what I was expecting…having never read the graphic novel it is based off of I was expecting a comedy…it was more an action flick with some pretty decent gore thrown in.

So basically it was just your average weekend with a side of delicious steak grilled up by The Hubs…yum…

The cat is outta the bag…

AAhh The Hubs…he was so composed when I excitedly told him I was pregnant…well I guess a more accurate description would be he was sleeping. But still in his groggy state he says to me “but isn’t there a waiting period or something?”…not the first words I had expected to hear but he was sleeping. Well yeah I said most people don’t announce anything until after the first 12 weeks.

And immediately he was on lock down. He took it very seriously. He didn’t want to tell anyone. Not even our parents…well…that didn’t last long. I was not keeping the happy news from my parents and pretty soon he had changed his tune…at least a little. So first he told his parents…then some really close friends…then more and more I was coming home from work to him saying he’d told so and so…and on it went. Then last night after he told his entire Toastmaster group. He comes home and tells me he’s posting it to Facebook.

Well what could I do…I told him to go for it…

We are both extremely excited and nervous and scared out of our minds but we are looking forward to welcoming a little baby boy or girl into the world around Nov 20th!!

And let the record show that The Hubs will not be sharing any of his toys!! :D

I am behind on my posts…

It has been an extremely chaotic week for me. So a few things have fallen to the wayside.

I was back to school on Monday night it was a long class…I wasn’t feeling well and couldn’t eat much and so I have been slowly recovering the past few days. I wound up staying home on Tuesday trying to get some food in me and I slept a lot that day.

Yesterday was touch and go I was still having trouble eating and was very tired because of it. Thankfully my fall back Dinty Moore Beef Stew was my savior…this is for whatever reason…is the food I tend to go for when I am not feeling good. I always get homesick and miss my Mom whenever I feel gross and that magical stew always reminds me of home…even though… I don’t think we ever ate it in our house?? My Mom always tried to feed me bread soaked in milk…ugh. Just the thought sends chills down my spine.

But when she wasn’t trying to feed me that she gave me peaches and Vernor’s…or Malt-o-meal with grandma’s maple syrup mixed in for flavor…Mmmm.

Today I am feeling much better though…thank you Dinty Moore.

And tomorrow is Friday…

Telling tales…

As I have shared before I have the pleasure of commuting to work everyday…and hour (give or take) each way. And I seem to have the uncanny ability (or rotten luck) of being a magnet for bizarre drivers…Until recently…I think…The Hubs thought that I was the root of the problem. Probably thinking to himself that this many bizarre things do not happen to one individual without them bringing this on themselves.

Until of course…he witnessed such an incident. Now because there have been so many strange things that I have seen people do I cannot remember what he saw that finally made him think that maybe I was not the problem after all. But one case in point was when I was driving us to the store and as I was nearing the right turn lane with my blinker already on… the car in the far left, left turn lane suddenly shot across three lanes directly infront of me causing me to slam on the brakes. I just looked at The Hubs and said “see, that is what I am talking about”.

I don’t know why I have this special ability but some of the other odd things that I have seen… of course there were the two cars driving on the shoulder… there was a guy on a motorcycle who was swerving back and forth and occassionally playing air guitar whom then proceeded to stand up and do a wheelie while merging onto another freeway… the lifted truck that decided to pass me on the shoulder while we were entering the freeway.

And even worse is my luck on vacation. But that is a whole other story…
